Mold Remediation Plan

A Mold Remediation Plan gives you and your remediation contractor a clear written roadmap for the cleanup. It identifies what areas need attention, what materials should be cleaned or removed, moisture concerns that should be addressed, and how the completed work will be evaluated.

A Clear Plan Before Cleanup Starts

If mold remediation is needed, the contractor should not have to guess what needs to be done.

Inside Diagnostics prepares a project-specific Mold Remediation Plan that clearly identifies the affected areas, materials that need attention, recommended cleanup methods, moisture concerns, and the requirements for completing the project.

The plan can then be provided to a licensed mold remediation contractor before work begins.

What the Plan Covers

Affected Rooms & Areas
Materials to Be Cleaned
Materials to Be Removed
Cleanup Methods
Containment When Needed
Moisture Concerns
Recommended Repairs
Completion Requirements
Post-Remediation Verification

When You May Need a Plan

A mold assessment finds areas that need professional cleanup
Visible mold is affecting walls, ceilings, flooring, or other materials
Water-damaged materials need to be removed or cleaned
A remediation contractor needs a clear written scope before starting work
You want contractors bidding on the same defined project

What Your Contractor Gets

The rooms and areas included in the project
The materials that should be cleaned or removed
Recommended methods for addressing the affected areas
Containment and protection requirements when appropriate
Clear requirements for determining when the work is complete

Fixing the Moisture Problem

Mold usually develops because moisture is present. Cleaning the mold without addressing the moisture problem may allow it to return.

When the likely moisture source can be identified during the assessment, it is documented in the Remediation Plan along with recommended next steps.

Depending on the cause, you may need a plumber, roofer, HVAC contractor, waterproofing contractor, or another qualified professional to make the necessary repair.

The goal is not only to clean the affected area. The underlying moisture problem should also be addressed whenever possible.

Who Does What?

Inside Diagnostics acts as the mold assessor. We evaluate the property and prepare the Mold Remediation Plan that explains what needs to be addressed.

The mold remediation contractor uses that plan to prepare its own work plan and determine how it will carry out the cleanup.

Inside Diagnostics does not perform the mold cleanup on projects we assess. Our role is to independently evaluate the condition, define the remediation requirements, and verify the completed work when requested.

How the Process Works

We assess the mold and moisture conditions at the property
Areas and materials that need remediation are documented
Inside Diagnostics prepares the Mold Remediation Plan
You provide the plan to a licensed mold remediation contractor
The remediation contractor performs the cleanup
After cleanup, the property can be evaluated through Post-Remediation Verification

After the Cleanup

The Remediation Plan also establishes what we will look for after the cleanup is completed.

Inside Diagnostics can return for Post-Remediation Verification to inspect the remediated areas and determine whether the work meets the requirements established for the project.

Common Questions

What is a Mold Remediation Plan?

It is a written plan that explains what areas need mold remediation, what materials should be cleaned or removed, how the affected areas should be addressed, and what is required before the project is complete.

Do I need a mold assessment first?

Typically, yes. The property and affected areas need to be evaluated before a project-specific Remediation Plan can be prepared.

Can I give the plan to different remediation contractors?

Yes. A written plan gives contractors a defined project to review when preparing their proposals and helps you compare bids based on a similar scope.

Is this the same as the contractor's work plan?

No. Inside Diagnostics prepares the Mold Remediation Plan that defines what needs to be addressed. The remediation contractor prepares its own work plan explaining how it will perform the cleanup.

Does the plan include the moisture problem?

When a likely moisture source can be identified during the assessment, it is documented along with recommendations for addressing the condition.

Does Inside Diagnostics remove the mold?

No. We provide mold assessment, remediation planning, and post-remediation verification. A separate licensed mold remediation contractor performs the cleanup.

What happens when the cleanup is finished?

Inside Diagnostics can return for Post-Remediation Verification to inspect the completed work and determine whether the remediation requirements have been satisfied.
