Pre-Renovation Asbestos Survey
Inside Diagnostics provides pre-renovation asbestos survey documentation for defined work areas before materials are disturbed during remodeling, flooring removal, ceiling work, wall removal, basement updates, or other property renovation projects.
Survey Documentation Before Work Begins
A pre-renovation asbestos survey is used when renovation work may disturb older building materials. Instead of focusing on only one material, the survey evaluates the stated renovation area and identifies suspect materials that may need sampling and documentation.
This type of survey is commonly requested before kitchens, bathrooms, basements, flooring projects, ceilings, walls, pipe insulation, or other building materials are cut, removed, demolished, or repaired.
What the Survey Covers
The survey is limited to the renovation area or project scope described before the appointment. It is not a whole-property clearance unless a broader survey is specifically requested and performed.
Clear scope matters. A bathroom renovation, flooring removal project, basement update, and full demolition each require different levels of review and documentation.

What the Report Includes
Reports may include the stated project scope, areas reviewed, suspect materials observed, sample descriptions, sample locations, laboratory results, and notes related to the tested materials.
Results apply only to the stated renovation area, materials sampled, and conditions observed at the time of service.
How the Process Works
Independent Testing Only
Inside Diagnostics does not perform asbestos removal, abatement, demolition, construction, remediation, or cleanup work.
Our role is inspection, sampling, laboratory coordination, and written documentation.
If asbestos-containing material is identified and will be disturbed, removal or abatement should be handled by properly licensed asbestos professionals.
Common Questions
When is a pre-renovation asbestos survey needed?
It is commonly requested before renovation, remodeling, repair, or demolition work that may disturb older building materials such as flooring, ceilings, walls, pipe insulation, plaster, or adhesives.
How is this different from a single asbestos test?
A single test focuses on one suspect material. A pre-renovation survey reviews the defined work area and may involve multiple suspect materials and samples depending on the project scope.
Does the survey cover the whole house?
Not unless that is the requested scope. Most pre-renovation surveys are limited to the areas and materials affected by the planned work.
Can photos help before scheduling?
Yes. Photos of the rooms, materials, and planned work area can help determine whether the request fits a single material test, a limited pre-renovation survey, or a broader inspection scope.
Do you remove asbestos if it is found?
No. Inside Diagnostics provides testing and documentation only. We do not perform asbestos removal, abatement, demolition, or remediation.
Planning Renovation Work?
Send the property location, planned work, and photos of the area. We will help determine whether the project fits a pre-renovation asbestos survey or a different testing path.
