Post-Remediation Verification
After mold remediation is completed, Inside Diagnostics can return to independently evaluate the work. We inspect the remediated areas, review the completed work against the Mold Remediation Plan, and determine whether the project meets the established clearance requirements.
Was the Mold Cleanup Completed Properly?
Mold remediation should not end simply because the cleanup contractor says the work is finished.
Post-Remediation Verification provides an independent evaluation of the remediated area before the project is considered complete.
Inside Diagnostics evaluates the condition of the work area, compares the completed work to the Mold Remediation Plan, and determines whether the established clearance requirements have been met.
What We Check
Before the Area Is Cleared
What We Evaluate
Is Mold Testing Required for Clearance?
Not necessarily.
Post-remediation verification is based on the clearance requirements established for the specific project. A visual assessment is an important part of determining whether the affected areas have been properly addressed.
Air or surface sampling may be included when it is appropriate for the project or when sampling was included in the established clearance criteria.
Mold sampling is not automatically added to every clearance inspection. Testing should have a clear purpose and should be used when it provides useful information for the specific project.
How the Process Works
What Happens After the Inspection?
If the remediated area meets the established clearance requirements, documentation can be issued confirming that the project passed the post-remediation assessment.
If the project does not meet the clearance requirements, the remaining conditions are documented so the remediation contractor knows what still needs to be addressed.
A failed clearance does not necessarily mean the entire remediation was unsuccessful. It means one or more conditions still need to be corrected before the project can receive final clearance.
Independent Verification Matters
The company evaluating the completed mold remediation should remain independent from the company that performed the cleanup.
Inside Diagnostics does not perform mold remediation on projects we assess. Our role is to evaluate the condition, establish the remediation requirements, and independently determine whether those requirements were met.
The remediation contractor performs the cleanup. The mold assessor independently evaluates the finished work.

Common Questions
What is Post-Remediation Verification?
Post-Remediation Verification is an independent assessment performed after mold cleanup. It evaluates whether the affected areas were properly addressed and whether the project meets the established clearance requirements.
Is this the same as mold clearance?
Post-Remediation Verification is commonly referred to as mold clearance. In New York, the formal process is a post-remediation assessment used to determine whether the remediation project meets its clearance requirements.
Do you always perform air testing?
No. Air testing is not automatically required for every project. Sampling may be performed when it is appropriate or when it is part of the clearance criteria established for the remediation project.
What happens if the area does not pass?
The remaining conditions are documented so the remediation contractor can correct them. The area can then be evaluated again after the additional work is completed.
Can the remediation company perform its own clearance?
The remediation contractor performs the cleanup. The post-remediation assessment is performed by a mold assessor, keeping the assessment role separate from the remediation work.
Should I use the same assessor who prepared my Remediation Plan?
The assessor who prepared the original Mold Remediation Plan already understands the project scope and clearance requirements and can return for the post-remediation assessment. New York does not require you to use the same mold assessor.
Do I receive documentation after the inspection?
Yes. Written documentation is provided describing whether the project met the established clearance requirements or whether additional work is still needed.
